The townships of Jerez de la
Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Trebujena, Chipiona, Rota,
Puerto Real, Chiclana de la Frontera and Lebrija form the area of growing and cultivating
the vineyards.
The triangle of Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María
is the area of maturing the wines and vinegars in the bodegas. These towns define
traditionally the area of the Denomination of Origen JEREZ - XÉRČS - SHERRY.
The micro-climate created by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the rivers Guadalquivir
and Guadalete on the other, has a considerable influence on temperatures. Not only
summerheat is balanced, but also the humidity-levels are kept, a very important point in
maturing wines and vinegars. |
